4th of July Celebrations in Colorado
Independence Day is one of the biggest holidays in the US.
It celebrates the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 declaring 13 American states a new nation.
Most people know the history but here is a small recap:
During the American Revolution a resolution of Independence was approved on July 2. It declared the United States independent from Britain. The signing of the Declaration of Independence, which explained the deed, took place on July 4th. The significance of these events cannot be underestimated for it gave birth to one of the most powerful nations on earth.
The observance of the holiday and July celebrations is not much different today from what it was over 200 years ago. One of the authors of the faithful document actually predicted that this day will be marked by parades, sports, bonfires, guns throughout the continent.
These days the celebrations are mostly about fireworks, BBQs, sports (baseball in particular), and family picnics. There are also numerous parades, which are usually reserved for the morning to make the afternoon free.
