Edibles Guide Part 3. How Fast Do Edibles' Effects Take? How Long do They Last?

How long do the effects of edibles last? Let's take a detailed look.

How Long do Effects of Edibles Last?

1. It is important to remember the factors affecting it, mentioned in Part 1.

2. Empty stomach means a faster and more intense effect, so it is advisable to refrain from eating for at least an hour before consuming edibles.

3. The speed of ingestion depends on the type of edibles. Drinks take much less time than chocolate (for more details see the previous part).

4. Did you consume cannabis yesterday? Your body can be saturated with THC and this may lead to a faster onset.

The chart above will give you a basic idea and as you can see the effects may occur in just 30 minutes or it may take up to two hours. It is crucial to refrain from consuming more during this period thinking that you need it. If there is absolutely no effect after 2 hours, you can add a little more. But it would be a good idea to take an increased initial dose of edibles next time instead of adding more.

The next stage is a strong impact, when you feel the maximum effect. This period depends on the dosage and the purpose of the edible as well (sleep, pain, etc.). The manufacturer often indicates the exact time on the packaging, but we know that calculations may be inaccurate due to numerous factors. In general, this period lasts from 2 to 4 hours, and in rare cases 6 hours. Some people may feel fear, anxiety or other symptoms, but not to worry - we will discuss how to deal with that in the next part of the series.

The last stage is coming off the high. It may last anywhere from 2 to 4 hours. During this period, there are no powerful effects - the last point on the chart shows when you do not feel any effects of the Edible whatsoever.

After reading this part, we hope that you come to understanding that the high from an Edible can last a whole day/night. In this regard, newbies better plan their day in advance, making sure you are in a safe and comfortable place, for instance at home, and by no means get behind the wheel and do not plan any urgent or important affairs.

Disclaimer. To eat or not to eat is solely your choice and no one else’s. We outlined recommendations solely for informational purposes. We would like to draw your attention to the fact that this information applies to certified products that are sold legally. Most of it does not apply to home cooked edibles, as there is no way to determine the exact composition, the overall and piece by piece THC levels, and so on. We strongly recommend refraining from edibles you don’t know.
